Talking Therapy
This service is commissioned by MADP and provided by Moray Council on Addiction (MCA) offer a counselling service for anyone who:
Wants to either stop or cut down their drug/alcohol/gambling/internet use etc
Or
For someone who is affected by anothers use e.g. parent, child, friend etc.
MCAs experienced counsellors are here to help you explore any problems you may be experiencing as a result of yours or someone elses use and look at ways you can make changes. Things do not have to be really bad before you give us a call.
MCA also offers training on counselling and addiction, including MI and relapse prevention, and offers tool box for change training to agencies who seek to refer clients.
The telephone counselling pilot will run for a period of six months from September 2010 and will be evaluated for effectiveness at the end of this period.
It is hoped that it will enhance and add to the range of services already provided in relation to substance misuse and will improve accessibility for clients. As with our face to face service, we will offer the service to individuals affected by their or anothers substance use (significant others).
